iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone Apps for Non Verbal Communication
By Autism Spectrum Directory, All Rights Reserved.
This is a list of Non Verbal Communication Apps compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. One of the three core symptoms for an autism spectrum disorder is communication deficit.
A communication deficit can occur because of an inability to verbally communicate words. Non verbal communication is any kind of communication not involving words. iTunes apps can be used as a tool to communicate with a person by pictures, text, or tapping.
iTunes apps can also be used as a teaching tool for the purpose of making associative connections (visual clues) by pictures or stories showing the look and meaning of body language (a type of nonverbal communication) so that a person with an autism spectrum disorder can learn (by visual association) and model (by imitation) body language in the context of real life communication scenarios.
